Do trains run to Schiphol early in the morning?Yes — NS runs a night train every hour, every night, on the line Utrecht – Amsterdam Centraal – Schiphol – Leiden – The Hague – Delft – Rotterdam, so you can reach the airport at 3 or 4am by rail from those stations.
Is it risky to take the train to Schiphol for an international morning flight?Usually not — the train from Amsterdam Centraal is short and frequent — but 2026 showed the weak spots: on September 9 a national strike stopped trains everywhere except the Schiphol Sprinter and halted Amsterdam’s trams and metro, and one June weekend had no night trains at Centraal at all.
Should I stay at an airport hotel the night before an early flight from Amsterdam?Only if the extra night buys you real time or certainty: from a hotel in Amsterdam, a pre-booked car reaches Schiphol in about half an hour at 4am and costs the same fixed €80 in Business Class as by day, so for most flights an early pickup is simpler than moving hotels.
One day in Amsterdam with an early flight the next morning — how should I plan transport?Book both rides together before you fly: Schiphol to your hotel on arrival (€90 in Business Class) and the hotel back to Schiphol for the early flight (€80, the same at 4am as by day), €170 per car for the pair.

How do I get from Delft to Schiphol for a 10am flight?Aim to be at Schiphol by 7am for a flight to the US at 10am, which from Delft means leaving around 5:45–6:00: the drive is about 50 km, roughly 45 minutes on an empty road, and the northbound A4 past The Hague and Leiden fills up in the morning peak.
