PRACTICAL QUESTIONS · THE PASSPORT IS STILL AT THE HOTEL

My passport is still in the hotel safe and I'm already at Schiphol. What now?

Call the hotel first, then dispatch, and do both from the check-in hall. Ask the hotel to open the safe and hand the passport only to the chauffeur whose name and plate you forward from My Ride; the item stays in the car with the chauffeur, comes to Departures and is handed to you alone, against a signature. From central Amsterdam that is about 31 minutes on a clear road. Airlines close check-in well before departure, often an hour for long-haul flights, so tell the check-in desk what is happening and decide together whether the timing still works. For a run that must leave within the hour, call dispatch rather than message.

Rides outside Amsterdam are priced from the measured road distance (or a fixed route price where one applies) and shown as one fixed price before you book. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price

  • A fixed price confirmed at booking, with VAT included: no meter and no surge
  • The chauffeur’s name, car and phone number before pickup, plus e-mail reminders 24 hours and 2 hours ahead
  • Water and phone chargers (iOS and Android) in the car
  • Status updates to the person who booked, if that is not the passenger: confirmed, chauffeur en route, guest in the car, arrived

Three calls, in order

  1. The hotel: confirm the passport is there and who may release it; send the release in writing if they ask.
  2. Dispatch: collection address, your name and terminal; you get a fixed price and the chauffeur's details.
  3. Your airline: the check-in or bag-drop deadline, and whether a later flight is the safer option.

What it costs

A courier run is priced like a point-to-point ride, per kilometer, and quoted as one fixed amount before the car moves. Inside 12 hours of collection, it carries the 10% short-notice supplement and nothing else.

Related questions

Can the hotel just put it in a taxi?

Some will; with a named courier, the passport goes only to you and the handover is recorded.

What if I've already missed the flight?

Rebook first, then decide whether you collect the passport yourself or have it brought.

Can this work for other documents?

Yes; signed papers, visas and keys travel the same way.
