I've lost my US passport in Amsterdam. What do I do, and can I still fly?
Go to the US Consulate General at Museumplein 19, across the square from the Rijksmuseum, with as much proof of identity and citizenship as you can gather. Report the loss straight away; once reported, the passport can no longer be used to travel. If you fly within days, ask for an emergency passport of limited validity; a full replacement takes longer. Bring the DS-11 application and DS-64 lost-passport statement, unsigned until you are asked, one 2x2-inch photo, any proof of citizenship such as a copy of the lost passport, and a copy of a police report if you filed one; check the consulate's site for the current fee and whether you need an appointment. Leave bags in the car: consulates restrict what comes inside, and the chauffeur can run you straight on to Schiphol, about 24 minutes away.

By the hour: minimum 2 hours, 40 km included per hour, starting and ending in the same city. The chauffeur waits between stops. Any Amsterdam address to Schiphol is a fixed price per car. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

The checklist
- DS-11 and DS-64, filled in but not signed until you are asked
- A copy of the police report, if you filed one
- A 2x2-inch photo; photo booths in Amsterdam usually print Dutch passport size, so ask for US size
