Terms & Conditions
VERSION · AMSTERDAM, AUGUST 2026
1. General provisions
AmstelCab, Burgemeester van de Pollstraat 477, 1064 AN Amsterdam, the Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 97225444 ("AmstelCab", "we", "us"), operates a platform for booking chauffeured transportation: the website amstelcab.nl with its booking pages, together with bookings arranged by phone, WhatsApp or e-mail (collectively the "Platform").
Rides booked through the Platform are performed by independent, professionally licensed transport operators who work with AmstelCab ("Chauffeur Partners"). AmstelCab's own service is the arranging of your ride: we take your booking, pair it with a Chauffeur Partner, handle payment and support, and secure for you a direct right to the ride against the partner who performs it. The transportation itself is provided by the Chauffeur Partner, not by AmstelCab.
These terms and conditions (the "Terms") form part of every agreement concluded through the Platform and also describe the ride you may claim directly from the Chauffeur Partner. General or purchasing conditions of your own do not apply — including when we confirm or carry out a booking without expressly objecting to them — unless our management has accepted them in writing.
2. Contractual relationship and conclusion of the booking
2.1 The contractual relationship
AmstelCab does not perform the transportation itself, nor through its own auxiliaries. When your booking is confirmed, two things exist side by side: a booking-service agreement between you and AmstelCab covering the arranging of the ride, and — concluded by AmstelCab in its own name with the Chauffeur Partner, for your benefit — a right to transportation that you can enforce directly against the Chauffeur Partner performing your ride, including any further claims relating to its performance.
The price stated in your booking confirmation covers both elements: AmstelCab's arranging service and the amount passed on to the Chauffeur Partner for the transportation itself.
2.2 How the agreement is concluded
By completing the booking flow on the Platform — or by asking us to book by phone or WhatsApp — you make AmstelCab an offer for the ride you have specified (your "booking request"). An automatic message acknowledging that we received your request is not yet an acceptance.
The agreement is concluded at the moment AmstelCab sends you a separate booking confirmation by e-mail containing your booking reference — normally directly after your payment has succeeded. From that moment you are entitled to request the ride, and to raise anything concerning its performance, directly with the Chauffeur Partner.
3. Your details and your account
You guarantee that all information you provide to us — or that someone provides on your behalf — is complete and accurate. That includes names and contact details, pickup and drop-off addresses, flight or train numbers, the number of passengers, the amount and size of luggage, and any child seats required. Bookings created by automated means are not permitted.
If you hold an AmstelCab account, keep your login details confidential. Bookings made through your account are attributed to you.
4. The ride
The details below apply to the ride you may claim directly from the Chauffeur Partner, to the extent they were agreed with AmstelCab when the booking was concluded.
4.1 Ride types and changes
- Airport transfers — fixed price per vehicle class between Schiphol Airport and addresses in Amsterdam, as shown at booking. Other airports on request.
- City and long-distance rides — point-to-point rides at the applicable per-kilometre rates or an individually quoted price, based on the pickup and destination address you enter.
- Hourly hire — a chauffeur and vehicle at your disposal by the hour, with a minimum of two hours and 40 kilometres included per booked hour. An hourly booking always starts at the booked pickup time and ends in the same city as the pickup. Use beyond the booked hours, the included kilometres or the pickup city leads to additional charges as set out in section 5, among other things because the vehicle must return to the pickup city.
- Ultra · Maybach — available on request and confirmed individually.
Subject to availability you can request changes to a confirmed ride, and the Chauffeur Partner will accommodate requests during the ride where reasonably possible — extra stops, a changed destination, more time. Anything that adds work or distance can change the price as described in section 5.
4.2 Pickup time and flight monitoring
The agreed pickup time is the time stated in your booking confirmation. For pickups at an airport or long-distance train station where you provided a correct flight or train number, we track the actual arrival: if your flight or train is late, the agreed pickup time shifts along with it.
4.3 Vehicle class, vehicle model and upgrades
Depending on availability you can choose from our vehicle classes — Business class, Van / SUV class, First class and Ultra. The vehicles pictured on the Platform are illustrative: you book a class, not a specific model, and the vehicle provided may differ per region and per ride. AmstelCab may upgrade you to a higher vehicle class at any time, free of charge, depending on availability.
4.4 Passengers, luggage and safety
- The price in your booking confirmation includes the number of passengers and pieces of luggage you specified when booking. The maximum numbers per vehicle class are shown on the Platform and are binding.
- Excess or bulky items — such as a wheelchair, sports equipment or oversized cases — and animals must be declared when booking. The Chauffeur Partner may refuse luggage or animals that were not agreed, and animals that are not in a suitable closed carrier, unless the law of the place of transport requires carriage. If undeclared items or animals are carried after all, a surcharge may apply (section 5). Weapons and hazardous items are not transported.
- Children must be declared when booking, stating the number of children, their ages and the type of child or baby seat required, so the correct restraint is on board.
- The Chauffeur Partner may decline to transport unaccompanied minors; whether someone is a minor follows from the law of the place of transport.
- The Chauffeur Partner may refuse passengers or luggage where, in their judgement, the space or safety of the vehicle does not allow the transport.
If the ride cannot be performed because information required under this section was missing or incorrect, AmstelCab remains entitled to the agreed price for that booking.
4.5 Delays outside our control
Exceptional circumstances — extreme weather, strikes, road closures, security incidents and the like — can only be absorbed to a limited extent. In such situations longer waiting times or a short-notice cancellation may be unavoidable and must be accepted.
4.6 Cancellation, rebooking and no-shows
Cancellation. Cancelling is free of charge as long as more than one hour remains before the agreed pickup time. If you cancel one hour or less before the agreed pickup time, the full price is due. A cancellation is only effective when made through the cancellation option on the Platform (for example via My Ride or the link in your confirmation e-mail), or by phone or WhatsApp once confirmed by us.
Rebooking. Moving a ride to a different date or time, or materially changing it, counts as a new booking. The cancellation rules above apply to the originally agreed ride, so the price for the original ride may remain due.
No-shows. For transfers and long-distance rides, the ride counts as a no-show if you or your guest has not appeared at the agreed pickup location within 30 minutes after the agreed pickup time — at airports and long-distance train stations, within 60 minutes. For hourly bookings, the ride counts as a no-show once the booked hours (counted from the agreed pickup time) have lapsed without you appearing. A no-show means your right to the ride lapses while the full price remains due; no additional waiting-time charges are added on top. This does not apply if you and the chauffeur agreed a later pickup time by phone. There is no general right to move the pickup time.
4.7 In the car
- Road-traffic rules apply to everyone in the vehicle throughout the ride — including the obligation to wear a seat belt — and the chauffeur's instructions must be followed. The chauffeur is responsible for completing the ride safely.
- Doors stay closed while driving; nothing is thrown from the vehicle; no part of the body is held outside it. Equipment in the vehicle may be used with the chauffeur's permission.
- Smoking (including e-cigarettes) is not permitted. If this is ignored, the costs of cleaning the vehicle and its resulting downtime will be charged.
- Eating in the vehicle is discouraged; alcoholic drinks only with the chauffeur's prior consent.
5. Prices and payment
5.1 The price
The price you owe is the price stated in your booking confirmation. It is determined by the chosen vehicle class, the route or the number of booked hours, the pickup date, time and location, and how far in advance you book. Special requests — extra stops, child seats, bulky luggage and similar — can raise the price. Prices for consumers include Dutch VAT (9% for passenger transport).
5.2 Changes and extensions
If a ride is upgraded or extended — more distance, more hours — the actual total is recalculated at the applicable rates. For hourly bookings every commenced half hour counts in full: the price is rounded up to the next half hour from the first extra minute. If you end up using less distance or fewer hours than booked, the agreed price stays unchanged.
5.3 Waiting time and extra kilometres
For transfers from an airport or long-distance train station, no waiting charge applies for the first 60 minutes after the agreed pickup time. In all other cases the first 15 minutes are free. Each further minute is charged pro rata against the hourly-hire rate of the booked vehicle class, including VAT. For hourly bookings, kilometres beyond the included 40 kilometres per booked hour are charged at the per-kilometre rate of the booked vehicle class, including VAT.
5.4 How you pay
You pay when booking, through our secure online checkout operated by our payment provider Stripe — with iDEAL, credit or debit card, or another method offered at checkout. We do not charge a surcharge for these methods; costs of a payment by bank transfer (for example currency or foreign-bank charges) are yours. Invoice arrangements for business customers are agreed separately.
5.5 Failed payments and reminders
For a payment reminder we may charge reasonable reminder costs. If a card payment fails or is reversed, the external costs this causes (bank, card scheme) are passed on and we may charge a reasonable handling fee per occurrence.
5.6 Invoices
We provide invoices digitally — by e-mail or as a download. Online payments are due immediately; where payment on invoice has been agreed, the payment term stated on the invoice applies.
5.7 Promo codes and vouchers
Promo codes and vouchers are one-off, valid for a single booking, cannot be combined with other codes and cannot be exchanged for cash. Additional conditions or an expiry date may be attached to a code; in case of misuse we may refuse or invalidate it.
6. Liability
6.1 General
AmstelCab is liable for damage caused by intent or gross negligence on the part of AmstelCab or the people it engages for its own arranging service. The Chauffeur Partners, including their chauffeurs, are not auxiliaries of AmstelCab in performing the transportation: for the performance of the ride you hold a direct claim against the Chauffeur Partner.
For simple negligence AmstelCab is only liable where an essential obligation is breached — an obligation that makes proper performance of the agreement possible in the first place and on which you may rely — and then only for foreseeable damage that is typical for this type of agreement. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by us, or your mandatory rights as a consumer.
6.2 The Platform
We build and maintain the Platform with care, but do not guarantee that it is available without interruption or free of errors, nor that content offered free of charge is complete, correct and current at all times. Except in the case of intent or gross negligence, we are not liable for damage arising from outages, transmission errors, delays, loss of data or comparable technical disruptions — including failures of communication networks that are outside our control. The content of your booking confirmation is excepted from this.
6.3 Third-party websites
The Platform may link to websites of third parties. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or functioning; you use such links at your own risk.
6.4 Indemnity
You indemnify AmstelCab against claims of third parties, including the reasonable costs of legal defence, that arise from your unlawful use of the Platform or your breach of these Terms.
6.5 Items left behind
We and the Chauffeur Partners will do our best to reunite you with anything left behind in a vehicle, but no liability is accepted for forgotten items.
7. Changes to the Platform and these Terms
We may change and further develop the Platform at any time in a way that is reasonable for you, and we may discontinue all or part of it for a material reason. We may also amend these Terms; the version you accepted when booking applies to that booking. The current version is always available on this page.
8. Intellectual property
The content of the Platform — text, photography, design, software — is protected by intellectual-property law. You receive a revocable, non-transferable right to use the Platform for its intended purpose: viewing our offer and making bookings, in accordance with these Terms. Any use beyond that — copying, modifying, republishing, distributing or systematically extracting content — is not permitted.
9. Final provisions
9.1 Entire agreement
These Terms, together with your booking confirmation, contain the entire agreement between you and AmstelCab for the arranged services; there are no side agreements. Amendments and additions must be agreed in writing. None of this affects rights you hold under mandatory law.
9.2 Set-off and assignment
If you act in the course of a business or profession, you may only set off claims against ours, or suspend payment, where your counterclaim is undisputed or has been finally established by a court, and you may not assign claims under the agreement to third parties without our written consent. Consumers retain their statutory rights.
9.3 Applicable law and forum
Dutch law applies to the legal relationship between you and AmstelCab. Disputes are submitted to the competent court in Amsterdam, unless mandatory law designates another court — as a consumer you keep the venue the law assigns to you.
9.4 Complaints
Questions or complaints? Contact us first at info@amstelcab.com or +31 6 85141194 — we aim to resolve issues directly. AmstelCab is not obliged, and does not elect, to take part in alternative dispute-resolution proceedings before a consumer disputes board, except where mandatory law requires it.
9.5 Severability
If a provision of these Terms proves invalid or unenforceable, or if the Terms contain a gap, the remaining provisions stay in force. The invalid, unenforceable or missing provision is replaced by one that comes closest to what the parties intended commercially.
