Should I stay at an airport hotel the night before an early flight from Amsterdam?
Only if the extra night buys you real time or certainty: from a hotel in Amsterdam, a pre-booked car reaches Schiphol in about half an hour at 4am and costs the same fixed €80 in Business Class as by day, so for most flights an early pickup is simpler than moving hotels. An airport hotel makes sense when you come from much further away the evening before, or want to walk to check-in with no road or rail involved.

A short ride between Schiphol and a hotel at the airport is priced at our minimum fare, €70 in Business Class. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Airport hotel or early pickup?
When an airport hotel is worth it
- You arrive from far away the evening before (another city or country) and the flight is at 6am.
- You would otherwise depend on the hourly night train with no margin.
When an early pickup from the city is simpler
- You are staying in Amsterdam anyway: an early pickup is one move instead of two.
- You want a last evening in the city rather than in an airport hotel.
