Will taxi drivers at Schiphol refuse short rides?
They shouldn’t: Schiphol says the drivers at its official taxi stand are not allowed to refuse rides, so a short trip to an airport hotel or Hoofddorp is yours to take from the stand, on the meter. AmstelCab also takes short rides, but prices them at our minimum fare — Schiphol to Hoofddorp, about 8 km, is €70 in Business Class — while central Amstelveen falls inside our Amsterdam fixed-price zone at €90.

Airport hotels right next to the terminal are also priced at the minimum fare. For a ride that short, the taxi stand or the hotel’s own shuttle is usually the better deal. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

An honest note on very short rides
A pre-booked chauffeur is built around meeting you in the arrivals hall and taking care of the luggage. For a two-kilometer hop to an airport hotel, a meter will usually cost less than our minimum fare, and many airport hotels run their own shuttles.
Where a short pre-booked ride makes sense: late at night with heavy bags, with children or older parents, or when you simply want the name sign and the help with luggage.

Take the next taxi in line and note the plate of the one that refused. Schiphol states that stand drivers may not refuse rides, and complaints go to the taxi company first.
Why is Amstelveen the Amsterdam price but Hoofddorp is not?
Our fixed Schiphol prices cover an area around Amsterdam that includes central Amstelveen; Hoofddorp lies outside it, so it is priced per kilometer with a minimum fare. The booking page shows which applies to your address.
