Is it cheaper to book my own airport car than to book through my hotel in Amsterdam?
Often, and you can check it in a minute: a published price such as AmstelCab’s €80 in Business Class from any Amsterdam address to Schiphol can be set side by side with whatever the concierge quotes. Booking yourself also puts the conditions in your own hands — the chauffeur’s name and plate before pickup, free cancellation up to 1 hour before, and the price on your own confirmation — while a hotel booking can make sense if the hotel adds something you value, such as billing it to the room.

The other direction, Schiphol → your hotel, is €90 in Business Class. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Using the hotel and a direct booking together
You don’t have to choose sides. Book the car yourself and tell the front desk the pickup time; the chauffeur comes to the entrance, and the concierge knows where you are going. If you want the ride on your room bill for a company, ask the hotel whether it can do that for an outside booking; ours comes with an invoice by e-mail either way.
