Do trains run to Schiphol early in the morning?
Yes — NS runs a night train every hour, every night, on the line Utrecht – Amsterdam Centraal – Schiphol – Leiden – The Hague – Delft – Rotterdam, so you can reach the airport at 3 or 4am by rail from those stations. The catches are the hourly gap, the walk or ride to the station in the dark, and planned works: on one weekend in June 2026 there were no night trains to or from Amsterdam Centraal at all, only replacement buses.

No night surcharge: €80 in Business Class at 4am as at 4pm. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Night train or car for an early flight?
When the train is fine
- Your hotel is a few minutes’ walk from Amsterdam Centraal, or you are in Leiden, The Hague, Delft or Rotterdam near the station.
- You travel light and your train leaves you enough margin if it is canceled.
When a chauffeur is the better choice
- The next train after a cancellation is an hour later — too late for a transatlantic check-in.
- Your hotel is not next to the station, or you have checked bags.
- Works are planned that night: the car finds a way round; a replacement bus adds time.
