I have an early flight on January 1 — how do I get from Amsterdam to Schiphol?
Last year the only trains in the early hours of January 1 were the hourly night trains from 01:00 between Utrecht, Amsterdam Centraal, Schiphol and Rotterdam, with most regular trains back from about 10:00, and Amsterdam’s night buses from 01:30. For a morning flight that means a night train from Centraal or a car booked ahead: any Amsterdam address to Schiphol is a fixed €80 per car in Business Class, with no holiday surcharge.

No New Year surcharge. A booking made less than 12 hours before pickup costs 10% more: €88 in Business Class — so book on the 31st at the latest, not after the party. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price
- A fixed price confirmed at booking, with VAT included: no meter and no surge
- The chauffeur’s name, car and phone number before pickup, plus e-mail reminders 24 hours and 2 hours ahead
- Water and phone chargers (iOS and Android) in the car
- Status updates to the person who booked, if that is not the passenger: confirmed, chauffeur en route, guest in the car, arrived
An early flight after New Year’s Eve
- Book the car before New Year’s Eve. Give the flight number; dispatch confirms the departure hall.
- Pick the time. For a flight to the US, plan to be at Schiphol about three hours before departure.
- The night before. You receive the chauffeur’s name and number; the car is at your door at the booked time.
- The drive. From Central Station it is about 23 km, roughly 29 minutes on an empty road.

Is the night train to Schiphol a good option?
If your hotel is near Amsterdam Centraal, Sloterdijk or Bijlmer and you travel light, it can be: last year it ran from 01:00. Check the exact times in the NS journey planner for 2026, and allow for the walk to the station at a time when trams aren’t running.
Will the roads be clear on New Year’s morning?
We have no figures for that morning. The early hours after midnight are when the celebrations end, so allow some extra time and let the chauffeur suggest the pickup time.
