How do I get back to my hotel after the New Year’s show on Museumplein?
Plan it before the night: last year the Museumplein show was for up to 60,000 people with the countdown from 23:50, while trams, buses and metros did not run between about 20:00 and 01:30, when night buses left from Central Station. A car booked in advance and waiting a few streets away from the square gets you out without that wait, and the fixed price to a hotel within 10 km stays €50 in Business Class after midnight.

At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). What is included in the price
- A fixed price confirmed at booking, with VAT included: no meter and no surge
- The chauffeur’s name, car and phone number before pickup, plus e-mail reminders 24 hours and 2 hours ahead
- Water and phone chargers (iOS and Android) in the car
- Status updates to the person who booked, if that is not the passenger: confirmed, chauffeur en route, guest in the car, arrived
Planning the way home
- Book the pickup when you plan the evening. Say when you want to leave, for example 00:30 or 01:00.
- Agree a meeting point off the square. Streets around Museumplein fill up; a point a short walk away is where a car can actually stop.
- Message when you start walking. You have the chauffeur’s number, so you find each other without searching the crowd.
- Straight to the hotel. Most central hotels are within 10 km: €50 in Business Class.

Is walking back to the hotel an option?
For hotels in the Museum Quarter and the southern canal belt, often yes. Central Station is about 5 km away by car, a longer walk than it sounds after midnight in a crowd, and that is where the night buses leave from.
Will there be a show on Museumplein this year?

Can the car pick us up right at Museumplein?
Not in the middle of the crowd. The chauffeur waits at a point you agree, a few minutes’ walk from the square, where cars are allowed to stop that night.
Is it more expensive after midnight on New Year’s Eve?
No. Neither the holiday nor the hour changes the fixed price; a hotel within 10 km of the square is €50 for the car in Business Class at 1am as at 9pm.
