How do I get from Schiphol to my Amsterdam hotel on New Year’s Eve?
Book a car before you fly if you land after about 7pm: last year Amsterdam’s trams, buses and metros stopped around 8pm, and the only train left running was Schiphol to Amsterdam Centraal until 10pm, with night trains from 1am and night buses from 1:30am. A pre-booked car is a fixed €90 per car to any Amsterdam address in Business Class, the same as on any other night, and the chauffeur follows your flight however late it lands.

No New Year’s Eve surcharge. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup, 10% is added: €99 in Business Class. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price
- Flight tracking from the moment you book: an early or late landing moves the pickup, at no extra cost

No private fireworks this year, and a show on Museumplein
From the turn of the year 2026–27, consumers in the Netherlands may no longer buy or set off fireworks; only light novelty items such as sparklers stay allowed, and professional displays go ahead. Last year Amsterdam’s own celebration was an electric fireworks show on Museumplein, and I amsterdam publishes this year’s plans in December.
Around big celebrations, streets close or fill with people close to midnight. If your hotel is inside a closed area, you are set down at the nearest point a car can reach; tell us the hotel when you book, so the chauffeur can plan the approach.

The chauffeur follows the flight and is in the hall when you actually land, and the first 60 minutes of waiting after landing are included. The price stays €90 in Business Class.
Can I take the last train to Centraal and walk to my hotel?
If you land early enough for the train before 22:00 and your hotel is close to Centraal with little luggage, yes. Farther away, remember that trams stopped around 20:00 last year, so the last stretch is on foot or by taxi.
Is there a taxi stand at Schiphol that night?
Yes, the official stand in front of the arrivals halls (how to find it). How long the line is that night we can’t say; a pre-booked car is already waiting when you land.
I fly out early on January 1. Will I reach Schiphol?
Night trains run hourly from 1am, but with luggage and an early check-in a car booked the night before is the dependable way; see an early flight on January 1.
Can I set off fireworks in Amsterdam?
No. The national ban on consumer fireworks applies for the first time at New Year 2026–27; sparklers and similar novelty items remain allowed, and professional shows still take place.
