KEUKENHOF 2027 · RAIN

What if it rains on my Keukenhof day?

Go anyway, and start indoors: Keukenhof’s three pavilions keep their flower shows going in any weather, with orchids and anthuriums in the Juliana Pavilion and tulips and amaryllis in the Willem-Alexander Pavilion. A ticket can only be canceled up to 4 days before the date and time on it (€2.50 per order), so a forecast inside that window means adapting the day rather than moving it. With a car by the hour, dry coats wait in the trunk and the afternoon can switch to a museum in Amsterdam.

A wet-day plan

  1. Pavilions first. Start inside and go out between the showers.
  2. Shoes that can take wet grass. And a rain jacket you can leave in the car once the sun is back.
  3. Keep the car close. Message the chauffeur and the car is at the entrance when you come out, so nobody walks to a bus stop in the rain.
  4. Swap the field stop for a museum. Guests of ours have gone from Keukenhof straight to the Rijksmuseum: 35 km, about 38 minutes on a clear road.

Related questions

Is Keukenhof worth visiting in the rain?

Yes. The indoor flower shows are among the highlights in any weather, the outdoor beds look fresh after a shower, and the paths are often quieter than on a sunny day.

Can I change my Keukenhof ticket to another day because of the weather?

Only by canceling it at least 4 days before the date and time on it, for €2.50 per purchase, and buying a new one. Inside those 4 days, Keukenhof’s terms do not allow a cancellation.

Does the car booking change if it rains?

Not unless you want it to: an hourly booking can end at a museum or back at the hotel, and AmstelCab bookings can be canceled free of charge up to 1 hour before pickup.
