An Easter day that works
Take the first arrival time on Easter Sunday or Monday, or one after 3pm, and spend the rest of the day somewhere quieter: Leiden is 17 km from the gardens, Haarlem not much further. If the weather turns, the indoor shows in the pavilions are in full flower whatever the date.
Easter brunch in a hotel in Amsterdam first and Keukenhof in the afternoon also works: the gardens stay open until 7pm, with last entry at 6:15pm.
