The run north begins on the A73 along the west side of the city, crosses the Waal on the A50 at Ewijk, and then takes one of two ways west. The A15 through the Betuwe to the A2 is the shorter line on paper; by way of Arnhem and the A12 past Utrecht is the one that often wins in the morning, when the Arnhem–Nijmegen corridor fills up.
