There is no direct train from Station Haarlem to Schiphol; the journey means a change and a platform at each end, and the bus stops everywhere in between. A chauffeur starts at your front door in Zuiderhout, the Bomenbuurt or Schalkwijk, takes the Schipholweg past Vijfhuizen and Hoofddorp — or the A9 to Badhoevedorp and the A4 — and ends at the doors of the departure hall your chauffeur has confirmed. Book the pickup at least three hours before the flight and the rest of the morning is yours.
Arriving, the order is reversed. The flight number goes into the booking and is watched from there; a chauffeur is standing in the hall with a sign before the doors open; and the first sixty minutes on the ground cost nothing, which is about what a slow belt or a long queue at passport control takes. Then it is the short road west, over the Ringvaart and into Haarlem — to a hotel by the Grote Markt via the access streets, to an office in the Waarderpolder, or to a house on the Bloemendaal border with the child seats already fitted.
