Leiden lies on the A44 with the A4 a few minutes to the east, which puts Schiphol about 26 minutes north — up the A44 past Oegstgeest to the Burgerveen junction, then the A4 to the airport — and The Hague about twenty minutes south. The train from Leiden Centraal to Schiphol is quick and we will not pretend otherwise.
