KING’S DAY 2027 · TUESDAY, APRIL 27

King’s Day 2027 falls in tulip season — should I go to Keukenhof or stay in Amsterdam?

King’s Day falls on Tuesday, April 27, 2027, inside Keukenhof’s peak-bloom fortnight, and the park opens as usual, holidays included. The harder part is Amsterdam: in 2026 everything inside the S100 ring road was closed to cars for the day, open only to emergency services, so if your hotel is in the center, meet the car at the edge of the ring, or spend the day in the city and see the tulips on the 26th or 28th. The city announces its 2027 traffic measures closer to the day.

Making the car work on King’s Day

If your hotel is inside the S100 ring, the chauffeur cannot reach the door that day if the 2026 rules return. Agree a pickup point just outside the ring on WhatsApp the day before, and plan the walk to it through the crowds. Hotels in Zuid, near RAI, or outside the city are the easy case.

Flying on King’s Day or the day after? Book the transfer for a time and pickup point that avoid the closed center, and allow extra time.

Related questions

Is Keukenhof open on King’s Day 2027?

Yes: Keukenhof opens every day of its season, holidays included, from 8am to 7pm, and Tuesday, April 27, 2027 falls in its peak-bloom period.

Can cars get into central Amsterdam on King’s Day?

In 2026 they could not: the area inside the S100 ring was closed to all car traffic for the day, with access only for emergency services. Expect something similar in 2027 and check the city’s announcement.

Is it better to do Keukenhof the day before or after King’s Day?

If your trip allows it, yes: Monday the 26th or Wednesday the 28th is still peak bloom, and you keep King’s Day itself for the party, on foot.
