I need to fly to the Netherlands for a funeral. How quickly will it be, and how do I get there from Schiphol?
Speak to the family's funeral director about the date before you book the flight. Under Dutch rules a burial or cremation may not take place sooner than 36 hours after death and normally no later than six working days, but the mayor can permit a later date, and relatives coming from a distant country are one of the reasons municipalities give. Once the date is set, plan the car around the service: a pickup inside the arrivals hall with your name on a sign, the drive to the church, funeral center or crematorium, and a car that waits through the gathering afterwards, when families share coffee and talk. Hourly hire is €65 an hour in Business Class or €80 in a Van for several relatives.

Schiphol to any Amsterdam address is a fixed price per car, with meet and greet inside the arrivals hall and the first 60 minutes of waiting free. By the hour: minimum 2 hours, 40 km included per hour, starting and ending in the same city. The chauffeur waits between stops. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.
