What is the EES, and do Americans have to register at Schiphol?
Yes. The EU’s Entry/Exit System (EES), fully operational since April 10, 2026, records the fingerprints, facial image and passport details of non-EU travelers on a short stay — US citizens included — when they cross into the Schengen area, and it replaces the passport stamp. If Schiphol is your first Schengen airport, that registration happens at border control after you land, which is why Schiphol reported one-to-two-hour average waits for non-EU arrivals in August 2026.

Your chauffeur follows your flight and waits inside the arrivals hall while you clear border control. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price
- Flight tracking, so the chauffeur knows when you landed
- A chauffeur inside the arrivals hall while you are in the border line
- The first 60 minutes of waiting at Schiphol; after that, per minute at the hourly rate of your class
- A replacement chauffeur if the wait outlasts one chauffeur
Your first entry under the EES, in order
- Land and follow the signs to border control. Non-EU passport holders use the non-EU lanes.
- Registration. Passport details, fingerprints and a facial image are recorded; the officer checks your stay.
- Baggage reclaim and customs. Then the doors of your arrivals hall.
- Your chauffeur. Waiting at those doors with your name on an iPad sign, having followed your flight.

Is it faster on my second trip?
On later trips your existing record is checked rather than created from scratch. We don’t know of a published figure for how much time that saves at Schiphol, so plan as if the line may still be long.
Can I skip the EES line with a fast-track service?
Not through us: AmstelCab is a chauffeur service and cannot get anyone past border control. Our cars park in the Privium section of P1, but that is only where the car waits — it does not give you Privium’s border lanes or lounge.
Is the EES the same as ETIAS?
No. ETIAS is a separate pre-travel authorization the EU has announced; the EES is the registration at the border. Check the EU’s official travel site for whether ETIAS applies on your travel date.
Does the EES affect my transfer price?
No. Schiphol to any Amsterdam address stays €90 in Business Class; only waiting beyond the free hour is added, per minute. See whether your driver waits.
