Which roads are closed during the 2026 Amsterdam Marathon?
On Sunday, October 18, 2026, the organizer lists the longest closures around the Stadionweg and the Amstelveenseweg up to the Overtoom (06:00 to 19:00) and the Stadhouderskade (06:30 to 18:00), with shorter windows on the Hobbemakade, around the Zuidas, along the Amsteldijk and in Oost. On Saturday, October 17, the 7.5K closes the area around the Amstelveenseweg and the Stadionweg from about 10:00 to 17:00. The organizer calls these times approximate.

A detour around the closures does not change a price fixed at booking. Up to 15 km the minimum is €70 in Business Class; Schiphol to any Amsterdam address is €90. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price
- A fixed price confirmed at booking, with VAT included: no meter and no surge
- The chauffeur’s name, car and phone number before pickup, plus e-mail reminders 24 hours and 2 hours ahead
- Water and phone chargers (iOS and Android) in the car
- Status updates to the person who booked, if that is not the passenger: confirmed, chauffeur en route, guest in the car, arrived
Where the course runs
The 2026 marathon starts and finishes at the Olympic Stadium. On the organizer’s course map it runs through the Vondelpark and under the Rijksmuseum, south through the Zuidas, down the Amstel to Ouderkerk aan de Amstel and back, north through Oost past the Science Park to the Zeeburgerdijk, then west along the Stadhouderskade and back through the Vondelpark to the finish.
The canal belt itself is not on the course, but its southern edge, the Stadhouderskade, is. That is why hotels in the Museum Quarter, around the Vondelpark and along the Stadhouderskade are the hardest to reach by car on Sunday.

Can cars cross the course anywhere?
Yes, at the through-traffic points the organizer marks on its maps. They are limited and can be busy, so expect detours rather than a straight line; the maps are on the organizer’s residents’ page.
Do trams and buses run normally on marathon Sunday?
No. The organizer’s race-day page says trams and buses run a reduced timetable on Sunday because of the closures, and points to GVB and 9292 for live information.
Is my hotel in the canal belt affected?
Usually less than hotels in the south, because the course runs along the canal belt’s edge rather than through it. Crossing that edge by car is the problem while the Stadhouderskade is closed, so a ride south may have to go around.
