I land in Amsterdam in the morning. Can I see the Light Festival that evening?
Yes, and it makes a good first evening. Allow for passport control: in August 2026 Schiphol said non-EU travelers were waiting one to two hours on average under the EU's new Entry/Exit System. Drop your bags at the hotel, rest until mid afternoon, and take a heated cruise at about 17:00, just after the lights come on at 16:30; the calm boat ride keeps you awake until a sensible bedtime.

Rides inside Amsterdam up to 10 km have a fixed price per car (€50 in Business Class); a detour around closures does not change it. Longer rides are priced per kilometer and shown before you book. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour).
