Should I rent a car and park at Keukenhof, or book a driver?
A rental car works: Keukenhof has its own car park, and a parking ticket costs €10 per car online or €15 at the gate, which makes sense if you are touring the region for several days. For a single day from Amsterdam a chauffeur is simpler, because you skip the 39 km drive and the city’s 30 km/h streets and are set down at the entrance rather than in the car park. By the hour that is €65 in Business Class, €325 for a 5-hour day.

Rental car or chauffeur for Keukenhof
When a rental car makes sense
- You are touring the bulb region, the coast and Leiden over several days
- You are comfortable driving in a Dutch city, with cyclists on every side
- Your hotel has parking, so the car does not cost you a garage in Amsterdam
- You buy the €10 parking ticket online with your entry tickets
When a chauffeur is the easier day
- One day out from a hotel in central Amsterdam, where most streets are 30 km/h and parking is scarce
- You want to stop at tulip fields on narrow lanes and not look for a safe place to leave the car
- Someone in the group finds the walk from a car park hard
- Nobody wants to drive back after a long day, or after a glass of wine with dinner in Lisse
Keukenhof allows cars only with a parking ticket and has a limited number of spaces; in the 2026 season its car park closed at 7pm with the gardens.
Related questions
How much is parking at Keukenhof in 2027?
€10 per car if you buy the parking ticket online, €15 at the gate. Motorhomes need a separate, more expensive ticket that Keukenhof sells only with entry tickets.
Is it hard to drive from Amsterdam to Keukenhof?
The highway part is easy. The work is at both ends: leaving Amsterdam, where about 80% of the streets have a 30 km/h limit and bikes and trams are all around you, and the last kilometers into Lisse, which fill up from mid-morning on spring weekends.
Can a driver drop us right at the Keukenhof entrance?
Yes: the chauffeur stops at the entrance, you get out, and the car waits nearby for the hours you booked, so the walk across the car park is not yours.
