HERITAGE AND FAMILY HISTORY · KAMP WESTERBORK FROM AMSTERDAM

How do I visit Kamp Westerbork from Amsterdam?

Plan a full day. Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork is at Oosthalen 8 in Hooghalen, Drenthe, about 175 km from Amsterdam, roughly 2 h 21 by car. Visitors can't drive to the former camp site; you park at the museum and take the shuttle bus, which is included in the €13.50 adult ticket, with an audio tour in English, Dutch, French or German. The museum opens 10:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 11:00 to 17:00 at weekends and on public holidays. About 97,776 Jews, Sinti and Roma were deported from Westerbork; Anne Frank arrived on 8 August 1944 and left on the last transport to Auschwitz on 3 September.
