PRACTICAL QUESTIONS · ARRIVING AT A HOUSEBOAT

We're staying on a houseboat. How does the drop-off work with our luggage?

Send the exact mooring before you fly, because houseboat addresses trip people up. Many carry "t/o", short for tegenover, meaning the boat lies opposite that house number on the quay, so the car stops by the building and you cross to the water. The chauffeur pulls up as close as the street allows, unloads, and brings the cases as far as the gangplank; inside, boats often have steep steps, so pack what you need for the first night in a small bag. Amsterdam has about 2,500 houseboats, the figure most often given, many outside the canal ring, and a Schiphol pickup to any of them is €90 in Business Class or €125 in a Van.

Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.
