Uber, taxi or a pre-booked private transfer from Schiphol — which is better?
It depends on what you need. Uber works at Schiphol — pickups are typically at the Ground Transportation exit, and Uber Reserve lets you book up to 90 days ahead; the taxi rank in front of Schiphol Plaza works without a reservation, on the meter; a pre-booked chauffeur meets you inside the arrivals hall at a price fixed in advance. With AmstelCab that is €90 in Business Class or €125 for a 7-seat van to any Amsterdam address, with the first 60 minutes of waiting free.

Prices are fixed when you book and don’t change with demand at landing time. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At Schiphol the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

What is included in the price
- Flight tracking from the moment you book: an early or late landing moves the pickup, at no extra cost
- Your chauffeur inside the arrivals hall your flight feeds into, holding an iPad sign with your name (or a company name, or no name)
- A message or call from the chauffeur around landing, so you find each other quickly
- Luggage carried from the hall to the car, which waits in the Privium section at the front of P1, a covered walk of about two minutes
- The first 60 minutes of waiting at Schiphol
- Water and phone chargers (iOS and Android) in the car; English-speaking chauffeur and 24/7 dispatch
When each option makes sense
When the train is fine
- The taxi rank: you didn’t book anything and want to leave now.
- Uber: you are comfortable finding the pickup zone and like managing it in the app.
- The train: you travel light to a hotel near Amsterdam Centraal.
When a chauffeur is the better choice
- You want someone waiting for you inside the arrivals hall, whatever time you get through.
- You are 5 to 7 people with luggage and want one van, confirmed in advance.
- Someone else is booking for you and wants status updates.
- You want the price settled before you fly.
How the pre-booked pickup works
- Book with the flight number. Online, no account or app needed.
- We follow the flight. Early or late, the chauffeur is in the hall when you come through.
- Name on the sign. The chauffeur takes the bags; a covered two-minute walk to the car.
- Door to door. Nothing to pay in the car.
