BUSINESS AND STUDY TRAVEL · A BUSINESS VISIT TO THE PORT OF ROTTERDAM

We're visiting the Port of Rotterdam on business. How do we get around it in a day?

Think in distances, not addresses: Europe's largest port runs about 40 km from the city center to Maasvlakte 2 on the North Sea, and the meetings rarely sit next to each other. A day might start at an office on the Kop van Zuid, continue to a terminal in the Botlek or Europoort, and end on Maasvlakte 2, where Portlantis, the port's five-floor experience center with a 360-degree roof view, took over from FutureLand when it opened on 22 March 2025. From Amsterdam, the Kop van Zuid is about 1 h 14 by car. A nine-hour booking, €585 in Business Class, carries the delegation from hotel to hotel with the car waiting at every gate; check Portlantis's opening days before you plan the stop.

Gates and passes

Terminals control access. Send the visitor list to your host in advance, and give dispatch the exact gate names, because port addresses can be kilometers from the entrance you need.
