I'm taking the Stena Line ferry to Hook of Holland. How do I get to Amsterdam?
By public transport it's three steps and about two and a half hours: walk across the road from the terminal to the metro, take line B to Schiedam Centrum (about 23 minutes), then an NS Intercity to Amsterdam Centraal (about 68 minutes). The night ferry from Harwich arrives at 08:00 and the day ferry at 17:15 (16:45 on Saturdays). By car it's one step: about 85 km to central Amsterdam, roughly €291 in Business Class or €377 in Van Class, which splits well between four to seven people with luggage.

Rides outside Amsterdam are priced from the measured road distance (or a fixed route price where one applies) and shown as one fixed price before you book. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Why it changed
The line from Hook of Holland was an ordinary railway until it was converted to light rail; the metro opened on 30 September 2019. Old guidebooks that tell you to take a direct train from the quay are out of date.
