Our First Class is the long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class, the electric EQS and EQS SUV, and the BMW i7 — cars built around the rear seat rather than the driver’s — and above them, on request, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class with reclining seats and champagne flutes. On the two-hour run between Groningen and Schiphol the difference between these and a good saloon is felt in the last hour, not the first.
