How early should I get to Amsterdam Centraal for the Eurostar to London, and where should my car drop me off?
Eurostar asks Standard and Plus passengers at Amsterdam Centraal to arrive 75 to 90 minutes before departure and closes ticket checks 30 minutes before; Premier passengers can come 30 minutes before, with checks closing at 15. The UK Terminal is a 3-minute walk from the main entrance on the city side, in the Amstelpassage, so ask to be dropped on Stationsplein at the front of the station rather than on the IJ side.

Dropped at the front of the station on the city side, the side of the UK Terminal. Booked less than 12 hours ahead, 10% is added. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Clear-road drive times from OpenStreetMap routing. On weekday mornings the ring roads and the center are slower, so the chauffeur proposes an earlier pickup for a train between about 7 and 9:30.
What is included in the price

From the car to the train
- Dropped on Stationsplein. The front of the station, on the city side, where the UK Terminal entrance is.
- Scan your ticket at the gates. Eurostar tickets carry a QR code; download it the day before.
- Follow the signs to the UK Terminal. About 3 minutes’ walk from the main entrance, in the Amstelpassage.
- Bags and two passport checks. Your luggage is screened, then passports are checked first by the Dutch authorities and then by UK Border Force.

Is 45 minutes early enough for the Eurostar?
Not for Standard or Plus at Amsterdam: Eurostar now asks for 75 to 90 minutes and shuts the ticket checks at 30 minutes, after which you can miss the train. Older articles and some partner sites still quote shorter times, so trust your ticket and Eurostar’s own page.
Why not be dropped at the IJ side?
You can reach the UK Terminal from there too, but its entrance is in the Amstelpassage on the city side, a 3-minute walk from the main entrance. Being dropped on Stationsplein saves the walk through the station with your cases.
Where can I leave bags if I arrive early?
Amsterdam Centraal has luggage lockers, open from 05:00 to 00:45. If you check out hours before the train, a car booked by the hour can also keep the bags on board while you use the time.
Does the new Entry/Exit System affect the Eurostar?
Eurostar has been introducing the EU’s Entry/Exit System gradually since October 12, 2025, as part of the passport checks in the terminal. Non-EU travelers leaving from Amsterdam should keep to the full 75 to 90 minutes.
