What's open in Amsterdam over Christmas 2026?
Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24, is not a public holiday, but Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, and Saturday, December 26, are. I amsterdam says most museums and attractions close on December 25 and 26 and on New Year's Day, so check each one's own site before you plan around it. Last year NS ran a Sunday timetable on both Christmas days, and the Light Festival is lit from 16:30 to 23:00 every evening. Book dinner, cruises and rides ahead.

Rides inside Amsterdam up to 10 km have a fixed price per car (€50 in Business Class); a detour around closures does not change it. Longer rides are priced per kilometer and shown before you book. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Day trips over Christmas
Maastricht's market closes at 18:00 on Christmas Eve, opens 11:00 to 18:00 on Christmas Day and 11:00 to 01:00 on December 26. Closed on December 25: the Valkenburg cave markets and the American Cemetery at Margraten. The markets in Cologne and Aachen end on December 23, while Düsseldorf's run until December 30.
