Everything people ask us,
before they book.
Fifteen questions, answered by the people who dispatch the cars: what a chauffeur costs in Amsterdam, how a booking works, what happens at Schiphol, when you can cancel, how you pay and what to expect on the day. If yours is not here, WhatsApp is open around the clock.
What does a chauffeur cost in Amsterdam?
Three kinds of price, all fixed before the car moves and all including taxes. Nothing is metered and nothing surges.
A longer read on how the pricing model works is in How much does a chauffeur cost in Amsterdam?.
How do I book a chauffeur, and what happens next?
Online at /book takes a couple of minutes; no account and no app are needed. WhatsApp and the phone work just as well, day and night. The long version, screen by screen, is at How to book a chauffeur.
Pickup address or Schiphol, destination or hours, date and time, passengers and bags. The fixed price shows before you commit to anything.
Business, Van or First; the Maybach is arranged on WhatsApp. Add a flight number for tracking and a child seat if you need one.
You receive the confirmation with the price you saw. Free cancellation runs until one hour before pickup.
You have a direct line to dispatch from the start and to the chauffeur once assigned, and My Ride shows the car on the map during the trip.
What happens when I land at Schiphol?
Every Schiphol pickup comes with the same standard, and none of it is an upsell. We track the flight from the moment you book, so a delay moves the pickup and not the price. The chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall with a name sign — your name, your company’s, or nothing at all if you prefer — takes the luggage, and walks you to the car in the garage nearest the hall. The first sixty minutes after landing are free waiting.
For departures, book the pickup at least three hours before the flight; the chauffeur confirms the departure hall on the way. Private jets are met at the General Aviation Terminal at Schiphol East, coordinated with your flight handler and quoted on WhatsApp. The detail is on Schiphol airport transfers and private jet transfers.
Can I cancel or change a booking?
Cancellation is free up to one hour before pickup. Inside that hour, half the fare is charged; once the chauffeur has been dispatched, the full fare. A delayed flight is not a cancellation — a tracked flight simply moves the pickup with it.
Changes — a new time, an extra stop, a different address — go through WhatsApp or your direct line to dispatch and are confirmed with the adjusted fixed price before they take effect. Nothing is recalculated at the kerb.
How do I pay, and is there a card surcharge?
Major cards, Apple Pay, iDEAL and Klarna. There is no card surcharge, no meter and no surge: the amount on the confirmation is the amount charged, taxes included.
Companies can open a corporate account and receive invoices instead of paying trip by trip — the usual arrangement for travel desks and assistants booking for others. See corporate chauffeur service.
Which class should I choose?
Four classes, chosen by passengers and luggage rather than by ceremony. The chauffeur standard is identical in each.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class, EQE, EQE SUV, BMW 5 Series or BMW i5. Up to three passengers and three bags. The default for airport runs, meetings and most city trips.
Mercedes-Benz V-Class or EQV. Up to seven passengers and seven bags, captain chairs, walk-in headroom. Families, teams, anyone with serious luggage.
Mercedes-Benz S-Class, EQS, EQS SUV or BMW i7. Up to three passengers and three bags. When the rear seat is the point.
Mercedes-Maybach S-Class for two, with reclining rear seats and champagne flutes. Fixed Schiphol fares; everything else arranged on WhatsApp, never first-come.
How does hourly hire work?
Hourly hire is for days with several stops or no fixed plan: a chauffeur and car at your disposal at €65 an hour in Business Class, €80 in Van Class and €100 in First Class, the Maybach on request. The minimum is two hours, each hour includes 40 kilometres, and the hire must start and end in the same city.
Beyond the included distance, or when the day ends somewhere else, dispatch quotes the difference as a fixed amount before you confirm. For a day that is really one long trip — Amsterdam to Brussels and back, say — a point-to-point quote is usually the better shape. See hourly chauffeur.
What actually happens on the day?
You are told when the chauffeur sets off, and My Ride shows the car moving towards you. Someone who booked on your behalf sees the same updates.
A black car, a chauffeur in a suit, the rear door held. Luggage goes in the boot; you go in the back. Water and a charger for your phone are within reach.
Quiet unless you would like conversation. Stops on request. The route is the chauffeur’s call; the pace is yours.
Door to door — the chauffeur stops at the address, not at the nearest corner. The booker receives a safely-arrived update, and nothing is settled at the kerb because it was settled at booking.

Your chauffeur waits inside the arrivals hall, holding an iPad with your name.
We track your flight from the moment you book. The first 60 minutes after landing are included, so slow baggage costs you nothing, and your chauffeur messages you around landing. They take the luggage and walk you to the car in the Privium section at the front of P1, directly opposite the terminal — a covered walk of about two minutes. Nobody is sent upstairs to find a car at Departures.
Yes, on request at €5 per seat — ask when you book so the right seat is fitted before the car leaves. Tell us the age or weight of the child and we fit a baby seat or a child seat accordingly.
Business and First Class carry three bags, Van Class seven. Count large suitcases; a cabin bag on a lap is no trouble. When in doubt, book Van Class — the boot takes golf bags, prams and sample cases without argument.
Yes, and it is one of the most common bookings we take: an assistant for an executive, a company for a visiting client, a family for a parent. The booker and the passenger both receive the status updates — confirmed, chauffeur en route, guest in the car, safely arrived — and the passenger’s name is on the sign at Schiphol.
Yes: Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, France and beyond, door to door at one fixed quote, one-way or return, with stops on request. Multi-day arrangements are quoted individually. Start with private driver Europe or the city-to-city routes.
Yes. Every chauffeur speaks English and Dutch, is professionally dressed in a suit and is hand-picked for the work. You have one direct line to dispatch from the moment you book and to the chauffeur once one is assigned.
Nothing changes on your side. The flight is tracked from booking, so the chauffeur is scheduled to the actual landing rather than the printed one, and the first sixty minutes after landing are free waiting. If the flight is early, the chauffeur knows before you have left the aircraft.
A company. AmstelCab is an Amsterdam-based chauffeur company with its own cars and chauffeurs, an office at Burgemeester van de Pollstraat and a dispatch desk you can reach 24/7. We are not a marketplace that passes your booking to whoever is nearest. The comparison is at AmstelCab vs chauffeur platforms.
