How long is the drive from Amsterdam to Margraten?
About 3 h 01 without traffic for the 221 km, or 137 miles, from central Amsterdam, nearly all of it on the A2 south to Maastricht and then the N278; from Schiphol it is 225 km and much the same time. Because admission ends at 16:45, leave Amsterdam by about 12:44 at the very latest to have an hour at the cemetery on a clear road, and in the morning if you want longer.

Allowing for traffic
The clear-road time is the shortest the drive will take. The A2 passes Utrecht, Den Bosch and Eindhoven, and on weekday mornings and late afternoons those stretches are slower; how much slower depends on the day. We have not measured enough of our own rides on this route to publish a rush-hour figure, so the chauffeur proposes a departure time with a margin for the day you travel.
Leaving Amsterdam around 8:00 on a weekday, or a little later on a weekend, gets you to the cemetery with most of the day to spare before the gate closes at 17:00.

Yes, the chauffeur stops whenever you ask for coffee or a restroom. Maastricht is about 15 minutes before the cemetery if you would rather have lunch in town.
