THE PILGRIM FATHERS · LEIDEN AND DELFSHAVEN · A DAY FROM AMSTERDAM

Can I follow the Pilgrims from Leiden to Delfshaven in one day from Amsterdam?

Yes. The Pilgrims lived in Leiden from 1609 to 1620 and their minister John Robinson is buried in the Pieterskerk; on July 21, 1620 the Speedwell left Delfshaven, today part of Rotterdam, with the Pilgrims kneeling in prayer on the quay near the Old or Pilgrim Fathers' Church. The loop from Amsterdam to Delfshaven, on to Leiden and back is about 163 km, 2 h 33 of driving on a clear road, which leaves time for the harbor, lunch and the Leiden American Pilgrim Museum. A 7-hour day with a driver costs €455 in Business Class.
