On a short city transfer the difference between classes is a matter of taste. On a drive of this length it is a matter of arriving fresh. First Class means a long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class with reclining rear seats, the electric EQS, or the BMW i7 — quiet cars in which the polder passes as reading time rather than as road. There are no stretch limousines in our fleet and none would be welcome on the lanes at the far end.
The bookings we take in this class tend to be occasions. Senior guests being shown the country for a day, with the village as the one stop they will remember. Anniversaries and birthdays, where the boat is booked and the car is part of the present. Delegations travelling with a host, where a Van Class follows the First Class car and everyone arrives together. In each case the timing is agreed in advance and dispatch stays reachable all day.
Prices are fixed before departure, as they are in every class: €883 between Schiphol and Giethoorn in First Class, or one quoted amount for a complete day with waiting. The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class is confirmed individually on WhatsApp — it carries two passengers, it is never released on a first-come booking, and on a route this long we agree the itinerary before the date is held.

Because the road is most of the day. A First Class car adds rear-seat space, reclining seats and a quieter cabin for the two hours in each direction, which is precisely where the difference is felt. The village itself, of course, is walked in whatever shoes you brought.

Not in one car: First Class seats three with three bags. For a party of four or more we either run a Van Class, which takes seven passengers with captain chairs and walk-in headroom, or send both cars together so the group stays on one schedule.
