When are the Christmas markets near Amsterdam least crowded in 2026?
On weekdays, soon after opening. Go Monday to Thursday, arrive around opening time (11:00 in Aachen and at Cologne Cathedral on weekdays), and leave before the after-work crowd. Skip Saturdays in December, the first weekend of the Dutch school holidays (December 19 and 20) and the last days before the German markets close on December 23, and note the closures: Cologne's cathedral market is shut on Sunday, November 22, Aachen opens only from 18:00 that day, and Valkenburg's caves close on December 25.
