CRUISE PORTS AND RIVER CRUISES · A SHORT AMSTERDAM PORT CALL

We only have 3 or 4 hours in Amsterdam from the cruise ship. What can we do?

On foot: Centraal Station and the canal-boat piers are a short walk west of the Passenger Terminal on the Piet Heinkade, so a one-hour canal cruise and a walk through the canal belt fit easily into three hours. With a car you can add what walking can't: the Zaanse Schans windmills are about 20 minutes from the terminal, and the Rijksmuseum area about 16 minutes. Three hours by the hour costs €195 in Business Class, four hours €260; in Van Class €240 and €320.

By the hour: minimum 2 hours, 40 km included per hour, starting and ending in the same city. The chauffeur waits between stops. Prices are per car, not per person, with 9% Dutch VAT included, and the same day and night. During ADE week (pickups October 20 to 26, 2026) fixed ADE-week prices apply, shown before you book; promo codes cannot be used that week. Booked less than 12 hours before pickup: +10%. At an airport or an intercity station the first 60 minutes of waiting are free, elsewhere 15 minutes; after that waiting is charged per minute at the class's hourly rate (Business €65 an hour). Free cancellation up to 1 hour before pickup.

Keeping time

Book museum tickets for a fixed slot before you sail, keep phones charged, and make the terminal your last stop, not a detour. With a car, the chauffeur sets the return time with you at the start and keeps it.

Yes, about 15 minutes on foot east along the IJ.

Can a car pick us up at the ship?

At the terminal's street side, where taxis and cars stop.
